2007-08-19 –You know it's a good game when...
...you've been playing for ten years and you're still addicted. Or at least easily re-addicted. ;-) I've been playing SimCity (too much) again lately, and have just learned that there is a new version coming out in the next few months... SimCity Societies. To heck with the kids, they've had their Christmas lists lined up for months... now I know what I want for Christmas! *drool*
This last week we took Bryceroni to the county fair. It was... the same as always (too few rides, ridiculously long lines, horrible ticket prices, awful food.) Seeing the horses almost made it worth it, though. They had some really interesting ones... On the first row of stalls were tiny little miniature horses whose shoulders weren't much past our knees. On the next row over the interior stall walls had been removed in order to accommodate the monstrous Belgian Draft horses. We were lucky if our shoulders came up to their knees! Ok, I'm exaggerating, but not by much. These were the biggest motherhubbards I've ever seen. They put clydesdales and Shires right to shame. One was well over 6 foot at the shoulder. Not to mention the girth of 'im, both figuratively and literally! On the third row were the Dutch Friesians. I'd never seen one up close before, but I knew what I was looking at the instant I saw them. They're the only creatures I've seen that look like they could be close relatives of black unicorns. They're simply incredible! And just down the row we caught a glimpse the rare Akhal Teke, from Russia, if I recall. Toss in a few Arabians, Quarters, Appaloosas and Pintos and you've got a fairly (only some pun intended) good representation of Eugene.
It's one of those nights where I'm dead tired, but I can't sleep. I know I'm likely to have some bizarre projects thrown at me in the morning and I'll need to be on my toes. I guess Starbucks will be providing me with my daily limited supply of oomph.
